                      Aphelenchinae

Morphology and Anatomy:

      Family characterized by large metacorpus (median bulb), esophageal glands
      usually not enclosed in a bulb (overlapping). Dorsal esophageal gland
      opens into metacorpus.

 
      Maggenti suggests that the Aphelenchina are an earlier evolutionary group
      than the Tylenchina.
