A family of free-living marine nematodes.
Body comparatively slender.
Cuticls smooth.
Pharynx with muscular anterior, slender isthmus and posterior with pharyngeal gland cells
Secretory pore posterior to nerve ring. Renette cell present
Several pseudocoelomocytes of which two are prominent, present along pre-gonad midgut.
Blind digestive system without rectum and anus in female.
Female didelphic, ovaries reflexed
Males diorchic.
Note: Tchesunov, 1990 split the family Aegialoalaimidae Lorenzen, 1981 into three separate families:
