Desmodorida De Coninck, 1965

  • cephalic capsule or helmet

  • three whorls of anterior sensillae

  • stoma with or without dorsal and subventral teeth

  • amphids loops and spirals

  • somatic setae along body

  • ornamentation and conspicuous striation of body

  • anterior and posterior adhesion tubes may be used in locomotion

  • mainly marine, some in brackish and freshwater

  • feeding unknown, probably bacteria, diatoms and unicellular eucaryotes

The order Desmodorida is characterized by a cuticle with transverse striations, and usually lacking punctation and ornamentation (Decraemer & Smol 2006).
