      Fusivermidae Tchesunov, 1996

A family of marine nematodes.

• Body fusiform, strongly tapered at anterior and posterior ends.
  Female length 1.2-2.5 mm.
• Cuticle finely striated.
• Cephalic setae in a single whorl of 10.
• Stoma minute.
• Amphid circular
• Esophagus widening and muscular posteriorly.
• Excretory pore posterior to nerve ring.
• Female diovarial, amphidelphic, gonads outstretched.
• Ovaries strongly developed, producing many small eggs.
• Male diorchic, testees opposed and outstretched.
• Spicules short, gubernaculum without apohysis,
• Tail conical with a termianl spinneret.

Type species reported from sublittoral zones at 10-20m depths, Kandalasha Bay, White Sea, in silt and fine sand.

Feeding habits and life cycle unknown. Probably epistrate feeders.
