Raphidascaris Bloch 1779
The genus has been considered to have three subgenera (Raphidascaris Bloch, 1779, Icthyascaris ( Wu, 1949, and Sprentascaris Petter & Cassone, 1984. However, molecular analysis indicates that the subgenera Icthyascaris and Sprentascaris are monophyletic (Malta et al., 2018). In fact, Malta et al., (2018) suggest that the three subgenera should be considered as separate geners pending further molecular analysis,
Alternatively classified in family Anisakidae.
