Morphology and Anatomy:

  • Body length 3-6.5 mm
  • Cuticle smooth and with cervical cuticular alae.
  • Body whitish color.
  • Lips well developed; without interlabia; lips with anterior round processes. Dorsal lip bearing two double papillae; ventrolateral lips with one double papilla, one single papilla and one amphid.
  •  Lateral membranous margins forming two finger-shaped protrusions at each side of lips,
  • Mouth aperture triangular.
  • Esophagus expanded at its posterior half. Ventriculus shorter than broad; ventral ventricular appendix longer than broad.
  • Excretory pore situated short distance posterior to nerve ring.
  • Tail of both sexes conical.

Male:

  • Spicules equal length, simple, well sclerotized,
  • Caudal alae poorly developed, short, extending from mid-length of spicules to level of last pair of papillae.
  • Preanal papillae in 14-16 subventral pairs
  • Postanal papillae in six pairs,

Female:

  • Monodelphic opisthodelphic

  • Vulva at short distance below esophagus, 0.40-1.06 mm from anterior extremity; vulval lips simple

  •  Vagina muscular, directed posteriorly from vulva.

Describesd from the fish Satanoperca jurupari collected in the Guama River close to the delta of the Amazon in Brazil.
