Morphology and Anatomy:

Female:

  • Buccal cavity in two unequal portions separated by a transverse band, ring or row of denticles; other rings which might be present are faint and concentrated at the posterior end of the buccal cavity.
  • Three slender teeth, one ventrosublateral is largest and eversible. Posterior portion of the buccal cavity large, asymmetrical, almost ventricose.
  • Posterior pharynx anteriorly with dilated sclerotized lumen.

Male

  • Buccal cavity iabsent, amphid relatively larger than in female
  • Lumen of pharynx not dilated and sclerotized.
  • Spicules long and arcuate,
  • Precloacal papillae present.

Distribution:

A genus of free-living mainly marine nematodes. One species, C. maxweberi reported in brackish water and freshwater.
