Morphology and Anatomy:

The species name recognizes the enlargement of the tail tip.

Amphimonhystrella bullacauda. B: Female entire body.  C: Male anterior body; D: Male posterior body;
Bars: B=100 um, C,D: 20um.

Females:

  • Monodelphic, prodelphic.gonad outstretched.
  • Uterus continues into a postvulvar sac narrowing to the blind posterior end.
  • Spherical spermatozoa with minute central nuclei present in the postvulvar sac

Males:  

  • Monorchic, testis outstretched and situated to the left of the midgut.
  • Spermatocytes in the testis large, in a single 
  •  No supplements.
  •  Spicules very short, slightly arched, distally acute and proximally slightly cephalated.
  • Gubernaculum with a short dorso-caudal apophysis.

Distribution:

Deep sea nematodes. Described from samples of silt  at 5569 meters depth in the Molloy Deep of the Arctic Ocean between Greenland and the Svalbard archipelgo.
