Morphology and Anatomy:

from description of Hofmaenneria longicaudata Gagarin, 2000

• Smll thin body with long filiform tail
• Labial region not offset from body contou
• Small conoid labial papillae surrounding lip region
• Ten cephalic setae in two circles, length of setae about 70% of labial width
• Cuticle smooth
• Somatic setae thin, 2-2.54 um
• Amphid openings circular, about 12um from anterior of body (orabout w.4 x labial width)
• Stoma wide, walls strongly cutiularized
• Esophagus slender, slighlty swollen posteriorly; cardia cylindroid

Distribution:

The species of this genus are quite rare; they live in fresh and brackish water bodies and in moist soil.
