The genus Terschellingia (Nematoda: Linhomoeidae) was erected by De Man (1888) based on the following characteristics:

Distribution:

The genus name refers to the origin of the type specimens which were collected at Terschelling Island in The Netherlands.

Actually, species of this genus are cosmopolitan and very often numerically dominant in muddy subtidal ocean sediments
