Morphology and Anatomy:

Females:

  • Similar to males, amphideal fovea smaller (42-56% cbd) with fewer turns (3-3.25).
  • Didelphic amphidelphic, ovaries outstretched.
  •  Vulva  slightly pre-median, with large bean-shaped cuticularised plate, pointed at extremities.
  • Tail slightly shorter than in males with fewer sub-ventral setae

Ref Leduc and Gwyther, 2008

Males:

  • Body cylindrical, medium-sized, tapering towards both extremities.
  • Cuticle with faint annulations
  •  Head slightly offset, rounded, 10-12 um diam.
  •  Six minute inner labial papillae and six setiform outer labial papillae. Four cephalic setae.
  •  Buccal cavity small, V-shaped.
  • Amphideal fovea 3.5 turns, 67-84% of body diameter.
  •  Two latero-dorsal and two latero-ventral longitudinal rows of 2-5 sub-cephalic setae. Other somatic setae short and sparse.
  • Pharynx gradually swelling but not forming a true bulb. Ventral gland situated posterior to pharynx.
  • Diorchic, testes outstretched testes
  •  Spicules paired, equal, L-shaped, 45-51 um long, with longitudinal hollow extending 75-85% of spicule length.
  • Gubernaculum with straight dorso-caudal apophyses
  •  7-9 small pre-cloacal papillae.
  • Tail 4.5-5.2 x cbd, conico-cylindrical with several sub-ventral setae and three 7-10 um long terminal setae.
