Morphology and Anatomy:

Males:  

  • Body cylindrical, cuticle with transverse rows of very fine dots from head to tail, lateral differentiation of slightly coarser punctuated pattern.

  • Circles of six small labial papillae, and six outer labial sensilla;  four cephalic setae 80% of head diameter.

  • Behind the cephalic setae, arranged in a crown, four subcephalic setae about 46% length of cephalic setae.

  • Buccal cavity anterior portion cup-shaped with conspicuous teeth at the base; posterior portion narrowre with a tooth-like structure at the botto.

  •  Amphid spiral, 2.5 turns and  75% of cbd wide.

  • Somatic setae in a group of 3 or 4 on the ventral side and setae on the dorsal side of cervical region.

  • Cardia small. Nerve ring at 60% of pharyngeal length. Excretory pore at the level of nerve ring. Renette cell behind the cardia.

  • Diorchic with opposed testes.

  • Spicules slender, equal, 4.4 cbd long, 1.0 tail length.

  •  Gubernaculum with ventral and dorsal pieces.

  • Minute preanal papillae or supplements present. Tail 173 µm long, 4.3 cbd long, the posterior third is cylindrical with swollen tip.

  •  Caudal glands three terminal setae presen

Females:

  • General appearance similar to male.
  • Amphidelphic-didelphic, ovaries outstretched.
  • Vulva at  46-50% of the body length.
  • Tail about 5 × abd long

Distribution:

Described from muddy sediments at 220-550 m depth in the Beagle Channel of the Straits of Magellan (southern Chile).
