Morphology and Anatomy:

Characteristics of the genus:

• Cuticle densely striated.
• Lips not developed. Labial and cephalic sensilla absent or papilliform (except S. renaudae).
• Stoma of variable structure: entire, divided anteriorly or chela-like. Three teeth.
• Pharynx with oval or rounded basal bulb.
• Tail long, narrow and either conical or conico-cylindrical with a long cylindrical part.
• Caudal glands present.
