Meyliidae De Coninck, 1965

A family of free-living marine nematodes.

• Body relatively slender or fusiform

• Cuticle annulated or with transverse rows of fine spines which may be interrupted by a smmoth lateral field

• Somatic setae not differentiated; seta patterm sparse or tricornoid

• Amphid fovea large with inner spiral structure

• Head cuticle smooth or with inserted cephalic setae

• Pharynx muscular anteriorly tapering to a large gland that overlaps intestine

• Female didelphic-amphidelphic, reflexed ovaries.

• Male diorchic, with arched spicules and gubernaculum

• All genera marine but quite rare.

• Type genus of the family: Meylia, Gerlach 1956
