A family of free-living marine nematodes.
Body relatively slender or fusiform
Cuticle annulated or with transverse rows of fine spines which may be interrupted by a smmoth lateral field
Somatic setae not differentiated; seta patterm sparse or tricornoid
Amphid fovea large with inner spiral structure
Head cuticle smooth or with inserted cephalic setae
Pharynx muscular anteriorly tapering to a large gland that overlaps intestine
Female didelphic-amphidelphic, reflexed ovaries.
Male diorchic, with arched spicules and gubernaculum
All genera marine but quite rare.
