Type genus of the subfamily: Spiliphera Bastian, 1865

A subfamily of free-living marine nematodes

  • Cuticle with homogeneous or heterogeneous punctation, with or without lateral field areas.
  • Arrangement of anterior sensilla (Inner Labial Sensilla; Outer Labial Sensilla and Cephalic Sensilla) in 2 circlets, that is 6+(6+4)
  • Buccal cavity with three or more solid teeth.
  • Amphid fovea simple single-loop spiral, on head.
  • Esophagus with posterior bulb.
  • Females diovarial.
  • Male with precloacal supplemenmts setose, present of absent
  • Tail conicval or elongate.
  • Marine  nematodes.
