Tripyloididae Filipjev, 1928
A family of free-living marine nematodes from intertidal waters, estuarine areas and mangroves.
Type genus of the family: Tripyloides de Man, 1886
Inhabit marine environments (intertidal, shallow water and deep sea sediments) and brackish water, rarely freshwater.
Feed as carnivores (predators) or on diatoms and algae
Metanemes, filamentous stretch receptors, present in the epidermal chords, thought to co-ordinate movement. The metanemes are almost exclusively ventrolateral loxometamenes of Type II. Many taxa in this group exhibit whip-like movements of the body when anchored at the spinneret.
