Review general characteristics of the genus Meloidogyne.
Reported median body size for this species (Length mm; width micrometers; weight micrograms) - Click:
First observed on cordgrass (Spartina alterniflora) in Florida, USA, and described origiinally as Hypsosperine spartinae by Rau and Fassuliotis (1965) from specimens collected on S. alterniflora near the farm of the US Vegetable Breeding Laboratory (where Fassuliotis was stationed), located near Charleston, South Carolina, USA (Subbotin et al., 2021).
C-rated pests in California.
Sedentary endoparasite.
Feeding site establishment and development typical of genus.
Ecophysiological Parameters:
Chromosome number n=7. Reproduction by amphimixis (Triantaphyllou, 1985; Triantaphyllou, 1987; Subbotin et al., 2021).
