Morphology and Anatomy:

• Body shape stout.
• Labial sensilla indistinct; four short cephalic setae present.
• Amphideal fovea large and loop-shaped in males versus small and loop-shaped or cryptocircular in females.
• Ocelli absent.
• Opening of buccal cavity terminal, cup-shaped, may be weakly cuticularised.
• Pharynx cylindrical, without posterior bulb.
• Secretory-excretory system with two to four pairs of renette cells located subventrally, except in P. curtus, which apparently lacks a secretory-excretory system.
• Tail conical.
