Morphology and Anatomy:

Females:
  • Didelphic, amphidelphic. gonads antidromously reflexed; anterior on left of intestine, posterior on right
  • Vulva slightly anterior to mid-body
  • Prevulvar pad of slightly thicker cuticle with coarse striations located immeediately anterior to vulva

Males:  

  •  Monorchic, testis outstretched
  • Spicules paired, equal, slightly ventrally curved, capitulum rounded, narrow shaft and blade gradually tapering distally
  • Gubernaculum slightly ventrally curved, about as long as spicules,
  • Three small, cup-shaped precloacal supplements present, 8-13 um apart.

Distribution:

Free-living marine nematodes. Chromadorina tangaroa was described from filamentous seaweed growing on the hull of a ship (RV Tangaro)a anchored in Wellington, New Zealand.

Feeding:

Probably epistrate feeders with scraping tooth in stoma  (Heip et al., 1998; Tchesunov, 2015)

Biology and Ecology:

Chromadorina spp are globally distributed,  and frequently found associated with accumulations of organisms, including macro- and microalgae and crustaceans, as well as artificial substrates such as settlement plates and ship hulls. Such associations may contribute to the global dispersal of the genus (Leduc, 2020).
