Dr. Joseph Neal Sasser, passed away today, August 17, 2005 of natural causes at his home in Cary, North Carolina.
Dr. Sasser's efforts were monumental in the field of nematology, touching individuals on a truly world-wide scale.
Among the many contributions that Dr. Sasser made to Nematology was his conception and developmen og the differential host range test for separating species of Meloidogyne. His career focused on research, teaching and extension efforts on the biology and management of root-knot nematodes. He conceived and developed the International Meloidogyne Project, 1976.
