Type genus of the subfamily: Chromadora Bastian, 1865

A subfamily of free-living marine nematodes

  • Cuticle with Homogeneous or heterogeneous punctation, usually with minimal lateral field areas.
  • Arrangement of anterior sensilla (Inner Labial Sensilla; Outer Labial Sensilla and Cephalic Sensilla) in 3 separate circlets, that is 6+6+4
  • Amphid apertures slit-like
  • Ocelli visible on fresh specimens
  • Buccal cavity with three equally-sized solid teeth
  • Esophagus usually with posterior bulb.
  • Females diovarial.
  • Male with precloacal cup-shaped supplemenmts
  • Tail conoid with spinneret.
  • Mainly marine  nematodes.
