Morphology and Anatomy:

Female:

Body slended
Lateral field with trwo incisures
Lip region flattened
Stylet with distinct basal knobs
Esophageal ovelapping intestine dorsally
Monodelphic, prodelphic, ovary usually outstretched., oocytes in a single file.
Vulva a transverse slit with slightly swollen lips
Post-vulval sac extending about half the distance between vulva and anus
Tail conoid with a bluntly-rounded terminus and a terminal mucron

Male:

Single testis, generally outstretched
Rose-thorn spicules
No bursa
Tail conoid to pointed terminua, sometimes with small mucron.

Distribution:

Described from groundnuts in northern Nigeria

Economic Importance:

Marketable value of ground nuts is reduced and seed weights reduced by >30%.

Feeding:

Endoparasite on tissues of the testa and internal tissues of pods. Occursin extremely high numbers, as many as 35,000 nematodes per testa and whole pods > 113,000.

Damage:

Test of infested seeds is translucent when removed from pod and then becomes very dark and seeds are shrivelled.
