Morphology and Anatomy:

Ditylenchus acantholimonis was distinguished from other Ditylenchus spp. with 4 incisures in the lateral field on the basis of morphological and molecular characters.

   Males

  • Morphology similar to female.
  • Monorchic
  • Spicules tylenchoid, ventrally arcuate.
  • Gubernaculum simple.
  • Bursa enveloping about 75% of tail length.
  • Tail similar to that of female

Females:

  • Body short to medium-sized, straight to ventrally slightly arcuate.
  •  Cuticular annulation distinct, 1-2 um wide.
  •  Lateral fields with four incisures, occupying ca 46% of body diam.
  • Cephalic region low, continuous with body contour.
  • Stylet fine, with small rounded knobs.
  • Esophageal procorpus slender, median bulb oval, with small valve;isthmus narrower than procorpus, pharyngeal bulb pyriform to bottle-shaped, offset.
  • Excretory pore at anterior half of pharyngeal bulb.
  • Nerve ring encircling isthmus. Hemizonid ca two cuticular annuli long, close to excretory pore.
  • Monodelphic-prodelphic, ovary outstretched, oocytes arranged in single row, oviduct tubular, spermatheca elongate, axial and filled with large rounded amoeboid sperm.
  • Crustaformeria quadricolumellate, uterus with distinct cavity, vagina perpendicular to body axis,.
  • Vulva with simple lips, post-vulval uterine sac (PUS) 36.6- 56.1% of vulva to anus distance long.
  •  Tail subcylindrical to conical, with widely rounded tip.
