Type and only species: P. stammeri (Korner, 1954) Gu, Liu, Abolafia & Pedram, 2021
= Aphelenchoides stammeri Korner, 1953
= Ektaphelenchus stammeri (Korner, 1953) J.B. Goodey, 1960

The genus name is derived from the strong or potent appearance of the feeding structures of the nematode.
Ref: Gu et al., 2021
Described from packaging wood imported into China from Spain. Also reported from declining Pinus massoniana in China and from Pinus nigra in Turkey (Dayi et al., 2019)
As Aphelenchoides stammeri, the type species was originally isolated from Spondylis buprestoides and wood of damaged pine and spruce trees (Gu et al., 2021)..
Can be cultured on fungus.
Morphologically, in having a well-sclerotized stylet with wide lumen,.the new genus resembles some predatory Aphelenchoididae: Seinura spp. and the Ektaphelenchinae genera, Ektaphelenchus, Ektaphelenchoides and Devibursaphelenchus (Gu et al., 2021)
