Morphology and Anatomy:

Large nematodes with slender body.
Cuticle thin, outer layer finely annulated.
Cephalic region raised, rounded, offset from rest of body
Lip region with six conoid lips, oral aperture surrounded by a hexagonal plate
Stoma with wide lumen, conus ca 40% of total length with small basal swellings.
Pharynx with procorpus slender, muscular, well developed, large ellipsoid metacorpus, with large sclerotised valve plates; glandular region comprising ca 25-33% of metacorpus length.
Pharyngo-intestinal junction just posterior to metacorpus base.
Nerve ring surrounding intestine and pharyngeal glands. Excretory pore slightly posterior to nerve ring

Female:

Monodelphic-prodelphic, ovary outstretched, developing oocytes in two rows anteriorly, single row posteriorly,
Spermatheca oblong, full of disc-like sperm, crustaformeria inconspicuous, formed of rounded cells
Vulva with simple lips.
Post-vulval uterine sac (PUS) well developed, extending for 43-66% of vulva to anus distance, sometimes containing sperm.
Tail elongate conoid, dorsally convex and ventrally flat until the mid-point, narrowing thereafter and ventrally bent from middle towards end, its tip finely rounded.

Male:

Common
Monorchic with testis outstretched.
Spicules paired, curved, with tip bluntly rounded,
Seven papillae, arranged as follows: first single papilla (P1) 12-15 Î¼m anterior to cloacal opening, second pair (P2) at about same level as cloacal opening, third pair (P3) at mid-tail and fourth pair (P4) near tail end.
A post-cloacal flap with rounded to sharp tip present immediately posterior to cloacal opening, extending posteriad.
Tail conical, dorsally convex, ventrally concave, bent ventrally, sometimes with elongate (2-3 Î¼m long) mucron-like structure at tip.
Bursa absent.

The genus name is derived from the strong or potent appearance of the feeding structures of the nematode.

Distribution:

Described from packaging wood imported into China from Spain. Also reported from declining Pinus massoniana in China and from Pinus nigra in Turkey (Dayi et al., 2019)

As Aphelenchoides stammeri, the type species was originally isolated from Spondylis buprestoides and wood of damaged pine and spruce trees (Gu et al., 2021)..

Morphologically, in having a well-sclerotized stylet with wide lumen,.the new genus resembles some predatory Aphelenchoididae: Seinura spp. and the Ektaphelenchinae genera, Ektaphelenchus, Ektaphelenchoides and Devibursaphelenchus (Gu et al., 2021)
