Chromadorea Rhabditida Tylenchina Aphelenchoidea Aphelenchoididae Tylaphelenchinae
Tylaphelenchus Ruhm, 1956
There are similarities between Tylaphelenchus Kanzaki, Giblin-Davis, Scheffrahn, Center & Davies, 2009 and Pseudaphelenchus Ruhm, 1956 so Kanzaki et al (2014) established the subfamily Tylaphelenchinae Kanzaki, Li, Lan & Giblin-Davis, 2014 and both genera are included in the subfamily Tylephelenchinae of the Aphalenchoididae..
Pseudaphelenchus is considered to be an intermediate clade between Aphelenchidae Fuchs, 1937 and Aphelenchoididae Skarbilovich, 1947 because it has a tylenchid-like bursa and aphelench-like esophageal glands and a phylogenetic position that is basal to the other aphelenchoidids.
General characteristics of Tylaphelenchus:
Female:
Species are associated with wood-inhabiting beetles.
