Species of  Metacrobeles are distinguished by their simple, non-bifurcate probolae, by the extremely posteriorly positioned vulva, and by the male spicules exceeding 50um in length (Loof, 1962; De Ley et al., 1989, Chiu et al., 2002).

Distribution:

The three known species have been described from desert environments; two from western Africa, one from California, USA..

 Bacteria. Cultured of Escherichia coli under laboratory conditions.
