        Osstella Heyns, 1962

    As of 2021, the only known species of this genus is O. hamata (Heyns, 1962) described from South Africa.

Morphology and Anatomy:

 

 

 

  • Rhabdions fused to form a tube which projects anteriorly beyond the lips.

  • Lips replaced by two subdorsal and two subventral hooks.

  • Esophagus with weakly developed basal bulb that has no valve.

Female:

  • Monovarial prodelphic.

  • Long overy reflexed to beyond vulva
