Morphology and Anatomy:

General Characteristics:

Cheiropteronema striatum Male: 1, anterior; 2, section at anterior body; 3, secrion at mid-body;  4, section at posterior bodty;  5, caudal bursa;; 6, gobernaculum; 7, genital cone; 8, spicules

Females:

  • Didelphic-amphidelphic, vulva post-equatorial
  • Egg surface punctate
  • Tail with four small terminal tubercles: two subdorsal, one ventral, and
    one median.

Males:  

  • Caudal bursa relatively small with globose rays. Dorsal ray well-developed, with five branches: two lateral pairs and an elongated, triangular median branch. Ray 8 arises almost from the base of the dorsal ray. Ray 2 is shorter than ray 3, which in turn is shorter than the remaining rays
  • Genital cone well-developed and complex, triangle-shaped
  • Spiules equal in size, symmetrical with trifid tips and lateral wings.
  • Gubernaculum thin, flattened.
