Morphology and Anatomy:

Strongylidae are thought to have arisen from free-living rhabditoid nematodes (Durette-Dusset et al., 1994).

The genus Orientostrongylus is well defined by its primitive characters, mainly the arrangement of its ccuticular ridges, the thickness of its dorsal ray and the shape of its caudal bursa (Durette-Dusset 1970).
