Morphology and Anatomy:

The genus was created to accommodate Yatinema siamense Asakawa & Ohbayashi, 1986 on the basis that certain characteristics of the synlophe of that species, such as a dorsal
side almost free of ridges, very small right ridge at midbody, and ventral ridges of very different size, as well as a subsymmetrical bursa (Durette-Desset and Digiani, 2019).

Characteristics of the genus:

• Synlophe in male with 9-11 ridges at midbody, 13 within posterior extremity.
• Careen absent. Left ridge large, right ridge minute. Left ridge is ridge 1'.  Dorsal side mostly free of ridges except two small right-dorsal ridges. On ventral side, gap between left ridge and following two mid-ventral ridges, the latter larger than minute right-ventral ones. Within posterior part of body, two minute ridges in place of gap. Single axis of orientation oblique.

Distribution:

Genus and type species descibed from Eothenomys melanogaster (Mammalia: Cricetidae), a rodent species collected in Doi Inthanon, Thailand. (Asakawa and Ohbayashi, 1986).
