Morphology and Anatomy:

The genus was created to accommodate parasites of rodents (Eothenomys (sensu lato)) (Cricetidae) described in several closely related genera of the subfamily Nippostrongylinae of the family Heligmonellidae.nematodes  The unifying characteristic of the new genus-species combinations is the presence of a careen - two large or very large ridges, present at least in anterior part of body. (Durette-Desset and Digiani, 2019).

Characteristics of the genus:

• Synlophe with 16-18 ridges.
• Careen of two large or very large ridges, present at least in anterior part of body. Ventral ridge of careen about twice as long as dorsal ridge. Right ridge and its adjacent ventral ridge larger than mid-dorsal and mid-ventral ridges. No gradient in ridge size: one to three medium-sized ridges on left-ventral quadrant, mid-ventral and right-ventral ridges small. Double axis of orientation of ridges oblique.

Distribution:

Several species descibed from Eothenomys melanogaster (Mammalia: Cricetidae), a rodent species  (Asakawa and Ohbayashi, 1986).

Type host of the enw genus is designated as Myodes imaizumii (Jameson) (Mammalia: Cricetidae). collected in Hongu-cho, Wakayama Prefecture,
Japan (Asakawa and Ohbayashi, 1986; Durette-Desset and Digiani, 2019).
