Morphology and Anatomy:

 Characters based mainly on description of S. cynocephali

 

 

Females:

  • Synlophe ridges disappear anterior to vulva in female.
  • Vulval opening posterior, about 300mu from tail tend
  • Vulva protruding. Vagina short, thick-walled
  • Uterus 3.4 mm long. Numerous unembryonated eggs at morula stage,
  • Tail with blunt extremity

Males:  

  • Synlophe ridges disappear just anterior to caudal bursa in male
  • Spicules subequal, very thin with alae, 900, 860 long, with very sharp single tip
  • Gubernaculum curved, thin and triangular,
  •  Genital cone very prominent,
  • Thin papilla “zero” on ventral lip of cloaca and small papillae on dorsal lip
