Morphology and Anatomy:

 

Females:

  • Didelphic.
  • Vulva at about 70% of body length
  • Ovejectors weakly developed.
  • Eggs in utero about 80 x 50 um
  • Tail conical tail, 0.160-0.203 um long

Males:  

  • Spicules with three branches, one branch is directed distally with a proximally curving offshoot, another branch is recurved and the third is straight; spicule ends folded in a transparent membrane.
  •  Gubernaculum absent
  • Copulatory bursa with one large cuticular fold laterally and dorsally. Prebursal papillae not seen; ventral rays almost equal, bending slightly ventrally and diverging distally: lateral rays almost equal and diverging from each other; externo-dorsal ray slender, arising from the same trunk as the dorsal ray; dorsal ray short, Bursa formula close to 2-1-2 per Durette-Desset & Chabaud (1981).

Described from the small intestine of a golden-breasted waxbill, Amandava subflava. The bird had been recently imported from Africa.
