Diplopeltoides Gerlach, 1962

 

     Type species of the genus: Diplopeltoides ornatus Gerlach, 1962 

    Synonyms:

Diplopeltis ornatus Gerlach, 1950

Note: Per Holovachov et al (2009) D. ornatus and D. linkei amy be the same species. Nothe were described from a single male and only seem to differ in the shape of the gubernaculum. Unfortunately, type material of the two describesd species no longer exists or was not preserved.

Morphology and Anatomy:

Per Holovachov et al (2009), unifying characteristics of the genus are:

• Pharynx with wide cylindrical muscular corpus, narrow isthmus and small, globular basal bulb.
• Regular increasing and decreasing of width of cutiular annules along body.
• Pharyngeal gland orifices at same level in anterior part of pharynx
• Oral opening triangular
• Caudal glands open through three separate outlets.
• Amphidial fovea an inverted lhook-shape with doral arm of hook almost straight and ventral arm rounded; space between the two arms of the hook may be wide and ornamented with crenate edges.

	Females: Didelphoc; Ovaries reflexed antidromously.
