Morphology and Anatomy:
  • Denticles large, conspicuous, arranged in six rows.
  • Refractive band behind denticle rows not distinct.
  • Subventral teeth, small, with somewhat blunt apex posterior to demticles. 
  • Tail with large hyaline ampulla, shorttail (hence species name)
  • Caudal glands grouped, opening through a subdorsal pore on spinneret

Female:

  • Didelphic, ampidelphic
  • Vulva at 56-6% of body length
  • Vaginal sclerotisation large, rounded-trapezoidal

Male: 

  • Spicules stout, 40-55um
  • Gubernaculum present
  • Ventromedian supplements 8-12

Terrestrial environments, moist soil, mosses. Reported from Europe, Asia, Africa, USA, South and Central America
