Type species of the genus: Paramononchus arcticus Mulvey, 1978

Morphology and Anatomy:

Paramononchus is closest to Mononchus Bastian, differing in having the dorsal tooth opposed by a denticulated rib with two small basal teeth and a transverse rib at the level of the dorsal tooth (Mulvey, 1978).

• Buccal cavity longer than wide
• Dorsal tooth in anterior third of buccal cavity, opposed by a short denticulated rib with two small subventral teeth at the posterior (base) of the rib; also, with a transverse rib at the level of the dorsal tooth apex.
• Esophago-intestinal junction nontuberculate.
• Tail long, uniformly cylindroid tapering to a blunt indented terminus.
• Caudal glands present.
