    Distribution:

     Considered important emerging zoonotic parasites in Europe, from the Mediterranean region to the north (Kemenesi et al., 2015)

    Economic Importance:

    Dirofilaria repens is the causal agent of canine and feline subcutaneous and ocular filariasis. It can also cause serious infection in humans as subcutaneous or subconjuctival nodules,

    Veterinary fees, diagnostic tests, medicines for household pets.
