    Morphology and Anatomy:

    Nematodes of the genus Ascarops are characterized by:

    Females:
    • Length 15-22 mm, width 390 um.
    • Tail conical, obtuse, 215-275 um long
    • V ulva slightly anterior to mid-body
    • Eggs blong, thick-shelled, 34-40 x 18-22 um; embryonation of the egg occurs within the uterus of nematode in about 20 days.
         

     
     

    Males:  

    • Length 10-15 mm 3, 300 um wide
    • Spicules unequal (slender, slender, 2.24-2.94 mm long; right 457-619 um long)
    • Tail rolled
    • Cervical ala on right about 2x as wide as left.

    Feeding:

    Food Sources and Feeding strategies for the genus Ascarops

    Parasite of the stomach of pigs.  Wild rodents (Myospalax psilurus, Rattus rattus) have been found with infections of mature adult A. strongylina (Marchiondo and Cruthers, 2020).
