Describerd as a parasite of Neotoma nelsoni (Rodentia) in Veracruz, Mexico. Neotoma nelsoni is distributed from southeastern California and southeastern Utah to central Texas and from northeastern Michoacán to Hidalgo, Mexico . Other woodrat species, which are also hosts, occur throughout western North America (Falcon-Ordaz et al., 2010).
The type host is N. albigla from which Aspiculuris ackerti was described b Kruidenier and Mahra (1959)
