Mesidionematidae Poinar, 1978

A family of parasites of the coelomic cavity and intestinal lumen of acanthodrilid and megascolecid annelids.

• outer circle of four prominent cephalic sensillae

• esophagus with more or less reduced valves

• excretory system with strongly cuticularized excretory duct but without vesicle or visibly cuticularized canals in lateral chords;

• Female diovarial; vagina strongly developed and morphologically divided into 3 parts;

• Male with single spicule; no gubernaculum
