Sometimes considered a subfamily of Ethmolaimidae Filipjev and Schuurmans Stekhoven, 1941

 

Ethmolaimidae: are primarily genera of fresh and brackish water.

Neotonchidae - are nematodes of marine sediments.

 

Type genus of the family: Neotonchus Cobb, 1933.
