Osstellidae (Heyns, 1962) Ali, Suryamwanshi & Chisty, 1973
Heyns originally described Osstellidae as subfamily Osstellinae of the Cephalobidae. Later it was elevated to family Status/

Morphology and Anatomy:

  • Dorsal and ventral pairs of lips modified as two subventral and two subdorsal hooks.
  • Rhabdions fused and protrude as a tube above lip level.
  • Esophagus cylindricalp; isthmus not well differntiated from corpus
  • Basal esophageal bulb wealy developed. without valves
  • Ovary panagrolaimoid, prodelphic, reflexed back beyond vulva..
