Morphology and Anatomy:

• buccal capsule subglobular, oral opening hexagonal,
• dorsal gutter absent,
• more than three teeth in base of buccal capsule;
• four branchlets to dorsal bursal ray;

Parasites in respiratory system of mammals and birds, in urinary system of pigs or in intestines of mammals (Hystrix).

Three Subfamilies:

• Stephanurinae - parasites of kidneys of pigs
• Syngaminae - parasites or respiratory system of birds and mammals
• Archeostrongylinae - parasite of intestine of porcupine.
