Chromadorea Chromadoria Rhabditida Tylenchina Aphelenchoidea Aphelenchoididae
Family characterized by large metacorpus (median bulb), esophageal glands usually not enclosed in a bulb (overlapping). Dorsal esophageal gland opens into metacorpus. Males have caudal papillae. Often, but not exclusively, associated with ferns, gymnosperms, and monocotyledons; also with insects. Maggenti suggests that the Aphelenchina are an earlier evolutionary group than the Tylenchina.
