Rhabditomorpha
Rhabditoidea
Obligate insect parasites. Infective
juveniles carry symbiotic bacteria in the bacterial chamber of the intestine.
Sexually reproducing (Nguyen and Smart, 1996).
Unlike in the genus Heterorhabditis, the first
generation of adults in the Steinernematidae (Steinernema and
Neosteinernema) developing from the IJs are
amphimicitic, not hermaproditic; they reproduce sexually. Subsequent generations
of adults are also amphimictic.
