A family of nematode parasites of freshwater fishes.
The family is characterized by the presence of two stichosomes and an atrophied anus.or anus absent.
Intestine modified as a sac or trophosome.
Vulva located anteriorly in the body, anterior to nerve ring.
Eggs with membranous envelope or polar filaments.
Adults with pronounced sexual dimorphism: male body cylindrical.; female body with thread-like anterior region and globular posterior region.
Anterior part of body with transverse rings of numerous minute cuticular tubercles.
