Filaroididae Schulz, 1951
Parasites of respiratory system of dogs, cats, seals, marsupials
Buccal capsule vestigial; mouth without lips;
bursa reduced or absent; bursal rays often reduced to papillae
vulva at posterior region of body; terminal or subterminal
ovoviviparous.
Life cycles of the family are variable; they can be either direct, involve gastropod molluscs or coprophagous fish as intermediate hosts and the use of paratenic hosts (Anderson, 2000).
