Chromadorea Rhabditida Tylenchina Tylenchoidea Tylenchidae Atylenchinae
Aglenchus Andrassy, 1954
Type species of the genus: Aglenchus agricola Andrassy, 1954 Synonyms: None.
.
Siddiqi differentiated Aglenchus from Tylenchus by its offset head, well-marked labial annules, prominent stylet knobs and lateral vulval flaps (Husseinvand et al., 2016). However, the head is not offset in all species.
Species of Aglenchus appear quite similar to those of Allotylenchus; they differ in that species of Aglenchus have three lateral lines while those of Allotylenchus have two (Husseinvand et al., 2016).
Aglenchus differs from the genus Coslenchus in having a weakly striated cuticle, in lacking longitudinal curicular ridges, in having an anterorrly-curved vagina and in lacking a postvulval sac (Geraert, 2008).

Yeates et al. (1993): considered Aglenchus an epidermal cell and root feeder.
But, Wood (1973) observed that Aglenchus newzealandicus fed on fungi although reproduction was not observed.
