           Paradolichodera Sturhan, Wouts and Subbotin, 2007.

Type species of the genus:  Paradolichodera tenuissima Sturhan, Wouts and Subbotin, 2007.


    Synonyms:
      None.

Cyst nematodes collected along the banks of a lagoon near Christchurch, New Zealamd appeared similar in characteristics to Dolichodera fluvialis. However, the very slender J2s and characteristics of the genus were considered sufficient for the proposal of a new genus.

Morphology and Anatomy:

.

Female: 

  • Elongate-ovoid with rounded posterior, marked with fine striation in anterior of body and  irregular lines and punctations in posterior..
  • Vulva terminal or subterminal,  no vulval cone; circumfenestrate; vulval slit shorts.
  • Eggs retained in body; no external egg sac; eggs with smooth surface

Male: 

  •  Body not twisted
  • Lateral field with 4 incisures

Second-stage juveniles:

  • More slender than usual for Heteroderidae
  • Stylet short, <20um
  • DEGO > 10 um behind stylet knobs
  • Tail long and slender
